THIS PIECE IS PAINTED ONTO A CERAMIC JUG. WHY A JUG? TRADITIONALLY WE POUR OUT A DRINK TO ABSENT FRIENDS AND THOSE WE HAVE LOST. THIS TRADITION IS AN ANCIENT ONE. IT TRAVELS BACK IN HISTORY TO THE GREEKS AND ROMANS, WHO ALSO POURED OUT DRINKS FOR A DEITY. WHEN WE REMEMBER THOSE WE HAVE LOST WE POUR OUT OUR EMOTIONS, WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR OUR HEALING. WE DON'T WANT TO FORGET THOSE THAT WE LOVED. THE NATURAL LANDSCAPE REMINDS US THAT LIFE WILL MOVE FORWARD, ON TO A DIFFERENT SEASON AND WE WILL ONCE AGAIN FIND LIFE, EVERYWHERE.
